| Artist's Statement | ||
The work is an exploration of visual ideas and materials over a period of time and can evoke the sensation of time and change. Form and space, color, light, and visual rhythms are developed through the etching process. This is appealing. Visual activity on the plate can be spontaneous or arbitrary in nature. The process of working with etches and hand tools changes the metal surface. The finished print is a visual document of this process. The forms in the prints are figurative. The images are explorations of anthropomorphic, botanical, zoological, mythological, and geological references. Time and change establish the visual image.

W.U. III, was developed as a mixed media work on paper using graphite, ink, paint, and collage. The image was digitized and made into a black & white positive on mylar that was exposed with UV [ultraviolet] light on a solar plate. The solarplate was printed as an etching and chine collé on Fabriano paper.
