| Statement | ||
My attraction to photography is based on contradictions. The unsurpassed detail and intrinsically implied veracity of the photograph fascinate me, yet I manipulate both to create a unique personal statement within a reproducible medium. There is not question that Dadaist college and the Bauhaus tradition of experimentation have been major influences on my art making. The images used in this work run the gamut from quantum physics to alchemy, medieval anatomy and astronomy to CT-Scans, Pythagorean equations to fractal geometry. Empiricism and reason meets mystery and magic; are we more than the sum of our biological parts? The notion that there is more to truth and reality than what can be detected on a sensory level will continue to supply endless possibilities in both subject matter and thematic structure. I am more concerned with the questions my art might elicit rather than being so presumptuous as to offer any answers. Questions may result in conversation; a conversation is an exchange of ideas, which may increase awareness or understanding – the ultimate encouragement to continue making art.

| Statement of Artistic Process | ||
Lazetran is an image transfer process which enables the application of unique designs or images to almost any surface. My images are collected from various sources, digitally altered and assembled. The construction of each piece consisted of two sheets of plexiglass plus foamcore backing. Images are digitally printed on Lazertran. The result is two layers of transparent imagery which appear to float over opaque images.
