'Innovative Excellence Awards' Unveiled
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The Iowa Cultural Corridor Alliance [ICCA] unveiled results of the 2006 'Innovative Excellence Awards' ['ICKYs'] live at the Englert Theatre on Monday, January 29, 2008. The inaugural 'ICKYs' announced winners in 10 categories for innovation and excellence in cultural programming, including 'Visual Arts Programming'. The 'ICKY' 'Visual Arts Programming' was awarded to 'Grant Wood at 5 Turner Alley' by the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art.
The Iowa Biennial Exhibition of 2006 had been nominated in a strong field that included nominations for five additional Visual Arts programs, or exhibitions. Nominees in 'Visual Arts Programming' included: 'Grant Wood at 5 Turner Alley' by the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art, 'The Iowa Biennial Exhibition of Contemporary Miniature Prints' by The Iowa Biennial Exhibition Archive and The Univeristy of Iowa's Project Art, 'Works by Warhol from the Cochran Collection' by the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library, 'Crafting Tradition: Oaxacan Woodcarvings' by The University of Iowa Museum of Art,'Through the Cat's Eye: A Celebration of Cats in Art' by The Friends of the Animal Center Foundation and The Chait Galleries Downtown, & 'Tango Triptychs' by Habeus Corpus and The Univeristy of Iowa's Project Art.
